Think I'm onto something. I've been interviewing old TV people about Back of Bourke. Everyone remembers a different creator. Here's the weird part - they all swear they worked directly with these people, but there's no record of any of them existing. Even weirder - I've now had three separate people tell me they created it themselves. All sound completely convinced. All remember different shows.

I worked in TV production from '62 to '89. Back of Bourke was definitely created by... wait. I was about to write a name but now I can't remember it. I can see the face clearly but it keeps changing as I try to describe it. I remember signing contracts for the show but when I look in my files, the papers are for something else entirely.

Just checked our complete records from 1956-1990. No mention of Back of Bourke or any of the creators commonly mentioned. But I remember watching a behind-the-scenes special about the making of the show. The creator was interviewed extensively. I remember every detail of the interview because it was strangely menacing... maybe even hostile. But when I try I can't recall their name or face. The special aired on... which network? When? The more I think about it, the less sure I am of anything.

My dad wrote for Australian TV in the 60s. He says he remembers pitching a show called Back of Bourke to the networks, but they turned it down because someone was already making it. But he also says he remembers watching the finished show years before he pitched it. And now he's telling me he remembers being offered a job on the show in 1975 long after most of us agree it was on.

UPDATE: Found an old TV Weekly with an article about the show. But... I can't remember what it said. EDIT: I went back to check and the TV Weekly was gone? I swear I'm not making this up. My wife saw it too but now she says she didn't.

Has anyone else noticed that every person who "remembers" creating the show doesn't provide any evidence at all? Some times I'm sure you're all making this up. If I didn't remember it too, I would write this off so easily.

Hi everyone - I'm researching for the "Back of Bourke" podcast. We've been trying to track down anyone involved in making the show. The strange thing is - we've found some hints but just like everyone here - nothing concrete. Search for us in podcast apps if you have any information.
