Think I'm onto something. I've been interviewing old TV people about Back of Bourke. No one remembers the same creator.
Here's the weird part, they all swear they worked directly with people that worked on this production, but there's no record of any of the collaboration existing.
Even weirder, I've now had three separate people tell me they created it themselves. All sound completely convinced. All remember different shows.

I worked in TV production from '62 to '89. Back of Bourke was something of an anomoly because it didn't list any cast or crew in the upfront credits.

Just checked our complete records from 1956-1990. No mention of Back of Bourke or any of the creators commonly mentioned.
But I remember watching a behind-the-scenes special about early Australian TV fiction. Someone from the programme was interviewed extensively. I remember every detail of the interview because it seemed strangely menacing... maybe even hostile. But when I try I can't recall their name or face.

My dad wrote for Australian TV in the 60s. He says he remembers pitching a show called Back of Bourke to the networks, but they turned it down because someone was already making a show with that title.
He says he kept waiting for it to come out but it never did. Says all you guys on here are nutters and making it up.

UPDATE: Found an old TV Weekly with an article about the show. I'll share some information when I can.
EDIT: I went back to check and the TV Weekly was gone? I'm not making it up, my wife saw it too.

Has anyone else noticed that every person who "remembers" creating the show doesn't provide any evidence at all?
Some times I'm sure you're all making this up.
